Timeline for Applying to Veterinary Programs

Applications to veterinary schools begin each year in May or June and the process from application through receiving all admissions decisions is approximately 10 months. 

The information in this timeline begins the January before you apply.

January-April
  • Plan to take the GRE test if not already taken.  Ideal to take the GRE no later than June of year of application
  • Contact individuals to write your letters of evaluation / recommendation which will be sent to the veterinary schools
  • Begin drafting your personal statement
  • Research programs and create list of schools
May
  • Submit appropriate transcript request forms (provided within the application) for official transcripts to The Office of the Registrar once spring grades have been posted. Review your official transcript for errors prior to making this request  
May/June
  • Submit applications as early as possible for processing by the application services.  We recommend submission no later than the end of June.
June-August
  • Complete secondary applications.
  • Update HPAP and professional schools with any changes to your contact information.
August-October
August-February
  • Interview with veterinary schools.
