Peer Advisors

UCS Peer Advisors are a select group of Yale students providing resume and cover letter assistance and reviews, counseling on internship and job search process, and answers to questions about UCS programs and services during open hours. All Peer Advisors have been chosen based on relevant skills and experience and have completed a thorough and rigorous training program. As Yale students, UCS Peer Advisors possess the insight and perspective to effectively relate to and understand their peers' needs, questions, and concerns.

Ryan Arnold, Pierson '13

Ryan is a junior majoring in Economics. At Yale, he is a Pierson College Master's Aide, an editor for The Bullblog, and a mentor for the high-school mentor program Ready, Set, Launch! He spent this past summer completing an internship at the Neiman Marcus group, rotating between the advertising and marketing departments of the Neiman Marcus stores and NeimanMarcus.com. In the summer prior, Ryan completed a marketing internship in Madrid through the Bulldogs in Iberia program at an environmental consulting firm.  


Kate Aufhauser, Timothy Dwight ‘13

Kate is a senior double majoring in History and Political Science. Outside of class, Kate sings with the New Blue and races with the Yale Alpine Ski Team. A Washington, D.C. native, Kate has pursued her love of living abroad through a semester in Copenhagen, a summer internship in microfinance in Kampala (through Yale’s AIESEC chapter), and a summer stint in British Parliament (through UCS’s British Bulldogs program). This past summer, she returned to Washington, D.C. with an internship at the Center for Strategic and International Studies.


Aiyana Bobrownicki, Branford '13

Aiyana is a senior MCDB major with an interest in microbiology. She conducts natural products research fungal extracts with natural antibiotic properties in the Handelsman Lab and Strobel Rainforest Lab. She is the vice president of AIDS Awareness Promotion for AIDS Walk New Haven and an organizer with Yale Swing and Blues. Aiyana first realized the value of UCS when she interned at a hospice in Kampala through the Bulldogs in Uganda program. Aiyana looks forward to another year helping her fellow Yalies access the many resources available through UCS.


Luke Hawbaker, Ezra Stiles '13

Luke is a senior majoring in History. He's a FOOT leader and general proponent of Stiles and the Midwest. Last summer, he worked for the Brooklyn District Attorney's Office. In the past, he's enjoyed a summer in Minneapolis with Bulldogs on the Lakes and has worked on multiple congressional campaigns.


Allison Lazarus, Jonathan Edwards ‘14

Allison is a junior majoring in History. She is the leader of a prison tutoring program, an editor for the Yale Review of International Studies, and a policy assistant for the Board of Aldermen. Allison spent this past summer working in a public policy think tank in Washington, D.C. and the summer before completed an internship through the Bulldogs in Israel program in Tel Aviv.


Ruth Nakaar, Morse ‘14

Ruth is a junior majoring in Political Science. She traveled to Ghana in the summer of 2010, where she worked as an intern for two economic development NGOs. After receiving the Light Fellowship, Ruth studied Japanese in Tokyo during the summer of 2011 and at Nanzan University in Nagoya for the 2011-12 school year. The following summer, through the Fred Packard Yale World Fellows International Experience Internship Program, she interned at a non-profit organization in Tokyo that supports youth affected by the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake.


Preetha Nandi, Silliman ‘13

Preetha is a senior Froco in Silliman majoring in MB&B and Economics. On campus, she has served the Yale Daily News business team in different capacities, including publisher and print advertising manager. She also is involved with HAPPY and works in the Kaczmarek pharmacology lab. Preetha spent the last summer working in a neurology lab at the National Institutes of Health, and the summer prior conducting research at Genentech, Inc. She also participated in Bullldogs Across America as a marketing and public relations intern in Denver.


Andrea Ramos, Saybrook ‘13

Andrea is a History major. She has spent two summers abroad as well as her sophomore spring semester in Spain. In 2010 she received the ISA to study Political Science in Istanbul alongside both Turkish and Middle Eastern students. In 2011 she studied abroad with CIEE's Liberal Arts program in Madrid while completing an internship teaching children to speak English through creative-movement lessons. This past summer Andrea participated in the Bulldogs in Athens program at the American School of Classical Studies where she participated in archaeological excavations.


Julie Reiter, Berkeley ‘14

Julie is a junior majoring in English. This past summer she attended Yale-in-London, as well as completed a photography project through a fellowship from the Creative and Performing Arts Award. The summer before she attended the Yale Summer Session course Paris in the 1920's. She is the Photography Editor for the Herald, the Staff Photographer for the blog Middleman, and a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority.


Jonathan Setiabrata, Davenport '13

Jonathan is a senior majoring in Chemical Engineering. On campus, he volunteers with SMArT, works at the Yale Center for British Art as a student assistant, and conducts research at the School of Engineering. Jonathan spent one summer abroad in Singapore with the Yale Summer Session and another summer conducting drug development research at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. Most recently, he worked as a Summer Analyst with the J.P. Morgan Private Bank.


Jenny Shelby, Trumbull '13

Jenny is a senior studying Sociology with a concentration in Public Health. This past summer she worked in federal health policy at the Center for the Study of the Presidency and Congress, and connected with fellow Yalies in the D.C. area through Yale in Washington. Jenny manages Yale's largest undergraduate volunteer organization, Community Health Educators, serving as Co-Coordinator of over 150 volunteers. On campus, you'll find Jenny leading tours or performing with her sketch comedy group, The Fifth Humour.


Jordon Walker, Calhoun ‘13

Jordon is a senior from Woodville, Texas, but has lived most his life in Houston. At Yale, he is a Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology major. Outside of class, he conducts research in the endocrinology lab of Richard Kibbey MD/PhD, serves as the co-Director of the Economic Development Center of the Roosevelt Institute, writes for the Yale Journal of Medicine and Law, and is active on the Calhoun College Council. Jordon has participated in both domestic and international Bulldogs programs--Bulldogs by the Bayou (2010) and Bulldogs in Brussels (2012).


Allison West, Saybrook ‘14

Allison is a junior double majoring in Mechanical Engineering and Political Science. She studied in London as a part of the Yale-in-London summer program in 2010. This past summer, she completed a helicopter engineering internship in Denver with a defense contracting company through the Bulldogs in the Rockies program. At Yale, she's a varsity swimmer, does microgravity physics research for the Yale Drop Team, and is a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority.
